Fire Inside - Kristen Ashley

Fire Inside (Chaos, #2)

I must say this was a great follow-up to the first book in the series! KA really does have a way with words. There were parts where I laughed out loud and part where I got teary eyed!

Lanie had issues that she had to deal with and I feel KA flowed the story line perfectly. In the previous books, we only got a taste of Hop and now since his character was thoroughly introduced, I came to like his character just as much as Shy and Tack. Lanie is a sweetheart and I loved the fact that Hop respected her choice to keep their relationship under wraps until Lanie was ready. She wanted to make sure that taking the next step was the real deal and wanted to prove that to Tyra before "coming out".

Although Lanie had her demons that she had to conquer, her character was strong willed and I am glad with the help of Hop, she was able to overcome them! Kudos to KA for bringing us another great story and I am patiently waiting for the next installment!

4.5 out 5 stars!!

Obsession - Florencia Bonelli

Obsession (Year of Fire #1)

Although this book started off very slow in the beginning, it picked up about half way through. I must honestly say that I was intrigued by the plot and how the characters were interwoven into the story. There was romance, conspiracies, and terrorism which made the story interesting and not to mention it was based in Paris and the author was great at describing the scenery.
The story centers around Matilde and Eliah who meet on a flight to Paris. Matilde is a pediatrician who is ultimately going to the Congo to treat sick children. Eliah is the owner of a security company who kind of reminds me of an Arabic Jason Bourne. Despite their differences, they end up falling in love. At this point the story takes so many twists and turns that I had to re-read chapters just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. And although the main characters were Matilde and Eliah, the story followed other characters in the book and kept switching back and forth. Like I said, I had to re-read to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
I won’t give too much away, but the ending is a cliff hanger and since this book was so long, I think it could have ended without the cliffhanger, but as I researched the author, I saw that there are two more books after this one and I am anxious to get my hands on those as well. It was good a story, but a little too long. I will read the next book when it comes out because I am anxious to see what happens between Matilde and Eliah.
I’ll give this book 3 out of 5 stars. Like I said, I like the plot but the story in my opinion dragged on a little too much.

Twisted - Rebecca Zanetti

This was a very nice quick read! Perfect for laying by the pool or lounging on the couch on a rainy day. The story was well written. There was drama, action, suspense, and comedy. I’ve stepped away from reading paranormal shifter books for a little and realized how much I missed reading them!

What I also liked was how you really didn’t need to read the prior books to understand the story. I will most definitely read the other books as this one was really good.  I also liked the fact that there were vampires and demons in the storyline which always catches my attention.

The author is very creative in her writing and the plot was there from page one. Maggie is a wereshifter who was captured by the Kurjans and tortured and ultimately suffered complete memory loss. Anything beyond 10 years, she cannot remember. Terrent – the ultimate alpha male (wow!) was her mate to be prior to her capture. She is sent to the Vaile pack to find out who has been tampering with the inoculations that help a virus that is being injected into werewolves by the Kurjans.

Once Maggie finds out who Terrent really is to her, the fire blazes and cannot be put out! Although she does not regain her memory at the end, I am glad that the ending ended the way it did. I am anxious to read the prior installments to this one.

I give 4.5 out of stars. This was a great quick read and I look forward to reading the previous books in this series…

Limerence - Claire C. Riley

Limerence

This was a very interesting story line and I felt that overall, this book was really good. I am not used to reading dark thrillers but this one did not disappoint. Mia and Oliver are very much in love which is very sweet. Oliver is a landscaper and is working on the “island” for the new owner who just purchased the property. The book takes a turn when Mr. Breckt, the owner sees Mia and decides that he wants her. VERY MUCH. Although Mia is drawn to Mr. Breckt but it is not of her own will. He is constantly using his powers to try to make her sway.

The book takes another sharp turn when Oliver suddenly has to travel to London because for his job and Mia is essentially left alone to deal with Oliver leaving and this is where Mr. Breckt tries to have his way with her. Essentially, I am glad that Mia’s love for Oliver overruled her feelings towards Mr. Breckt. The story was very slow up until this point and I really do like how the action picked once Mia is turned against her will. I also must say that I really do like Mia as a vampire once she was able to control her urges and power.

The ending was good but very heartbreaking and I get a sense that there will be other twists to this story. I am looking forward to reading the next installment of Mia’s story and I cannot wait to see what the Queen has in store for her.

Overall, this was a good read and I give 4 out of 5 stars. The story started off slow in the beginning but the once the story picks up, I finished it within a few hours!
