Boss - Sierra Cartwright

Overall, this was a nice read. I really liked how the book flowed and it wasn't too over the top. The characters were mature and knew exactly what they wanted in life. The story was good and I liked how the previous characters from the two previous books made appearances.

The book starts off when the Donovan company takes over the company that Kelsey works for and now Nathan Donovan is her boss. She is the assistant to the owner but is pretty much running the company. Kelsey and Nathan relationship starts off rocky as she is so shocked that her previous boss would just hand over the company to the Donovan's without prior warning. She eventually gets over this hurdle and it is back to business as usual.  Kelsey has had an interest in BDSM and her best friend books them to attend a local BDSM club not realizing Nathan's family ties to the club. Once Nathan gets word that Kelsey is supposed to attend the club, he offers to train her for the week. As the week go on, both try desperately to keep their feelings in check as they do have to work with each other after the week is over. Will it be business as usual when the week is over or will they delve into something more?

I look forward to reading more from this author!

Sights on the Seal - Alexis Abbott

This was not a bad story overall. The romance was little rushed for my liking. The plot and the action scenes were really good. Both Becca and Adrian were sweet and likable. Adrian was total bad ass with all his combat skills. I think what would have made this story stand out if it had started in the beginning when Becca and Adrian first meet, then into the next two years when they apart and the events that take place while apart and build up the momentum to their next meeting 2 years later. This was not a bad read, just a little rushed for my liking. I would definitely read more from this author in the future.

Saint by A. Zavarelli

I can only say that every book that A. Zavarelli comes out with only gets better!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Who knew that Scarlett was such as a badass! What Scarlett went through as a teenager was heartbreaking and her experience made her the badass she is in the book. Although, I did not like what Scarlett “thought” she was going to do to Rory for messing her plans up in the beginning. Rory was such a sweetheart and I applaud him for being so patient with Scarlett. We get little character cameos from the other books in the series, but I really like how this book was all about Scarlett and Rory. This book had it all – humor, drama, angst, action, you name it! Overall, this was an excellent book and I am anxious to see what Booker and Storm’s story would be like!! 5 out of 5 stars!!! Can’t wait to read more from this author.

Start Over - J. Saman

This was such a sweet story! The book starts off with Dr. Ivy Green who is drinking her sorrows away after losing a patient while on shift. She meets Claire and doesn’t realize that she is in a gay bar! Ivy gets coaxed into going to an engagement party with Claire and runs into her one and only one night stand Luke Walker. Ivy immediately recognizes him and she thinks he doesn’t recognize her, but he does.

Ivy is leaving for a fellowship in Boston in one month and Luke wants to start where they left off 10 years ago. The story is in both Ivy and Luke’s POV’s which is really nice.  The story wasn’t drawn out like other books and I was pleased by this. I also liked the fact that the author progressed their relationship and it wasn’t insta love. I also liked the fact that Luke did feel something for Ivy 10 years ago but couldn’t act on it right then because he had his issues to deal with. Now they have one month and one month is all it takes for them to fall and fall hard. But Ivy still has her obligation to the fellowship she agreed to.

I won’t give too much away, but I was almost heart broken when Ivy returned from her fellowship in Boston, but I am so glad the story ended the way it did. There is no cliffhanger (yes!!) and we have a HEA! I’m hoping the author will continue with Claire and Kyle’s story. I’m sure this will be a good one as well not to mention funny as Claire is hilarious in this book.

Heated - J. Kenner

This book was actually a nice read! The characters were very mature and likeable. I cannot believe I didn’t read the first novel, but you don’t need to in this series. I truly loved how Sloane was all tough on the outside but when it came to her feelings, she proved to be a very passionate person who cares and loves those close to her. The book takes place in Chicago and Sloane is homicide detective from Indiana on medical leave for a gunshot wound received in the line of duty for a case she was working. She has about 10 days left on leave and promised her good friend Candy that she would look into their other friend Amy’s sudden disappearance. Her intel leads her to Club Destiny which is owned by Tyler, Evan, and Cole and there starts her mission. It was explosive when Sloane and Tyler meet for the first time and from that point on, we see the vulnerable Sloan who is fighting the pull to Tyler and we see the struggle she is experiencing because she is a cop and does not approve of everything Tyler, Evan, and Cole are into.   

OMG – Tyler, Tyler, Tyler!!!… What I can I say!! That man is smooth! Although in the beginning of the book his character seemed a little dark and brooding, I came to admire his character. Once Sloane got to really know him, she found that he is a very loyal individual and is selfless in his endeavors! Although Sloane did not agree with the strategies and method of business that Tyler, Evan, and Cole participated, she truly understood why they do business the way they do. He was truly caring and I came to like his character a lot during the book. Tyler is one of the best book boyfriends that I have come across in a long while. Although his past is a little screwed up, it’s not to the point where there are psychological issues or demons that need to be dealt with and I am happy that this was not a factor in Tyler’s character.

J. Kenner has a way of putting words together that make it seem as if you are in the book experiencing what the characters are going through and I really admire her for this! This book was a great read, had mature characters, real issues that are happening in today’s world, didn’t go overboard on the steamy scenes, and kept to the plot throughout the book.
