***4 Dark but Different Stars!!!**
This
was really a great read and the prologue sucks you right in from the very
beginning!
After
being fired from her job as a reporter, Marla decides to have a drink at the
local bar the night before she is to move to another city. She meets a stranger
at the bar who instantly gives her bad vibes and for good reason too. Marla is
abducted and taken to this sex slave compound called the Halloran Asylum. Marla
is feisty, has a great attitude and I really liked how she was a strong
heroine. She wasn’t one of those helpless individuals and she promises herself
that she would do everything in her power to escape the hell that she has been
taken to. What Marla and the other women went through was rough but Marla didn’t
let this break her. Her ultimate goal was to escape.
Gabriel
is the asylum’s doctor and is truly upset that Marla was taken in the first
place as no more women were to be taken anymore. He was truly remorseful,
sometimes sweet and I would have like if Gabriel had more of back bone, but I
can see where the author was going with Gabriel’s character.
There
are many twists and turns that you don’t expect and I dropped a few “oh shit’s!!”
during some parts. The author wrote the book really well and the story flowed
effortlessly. The actions against the women were disturbing and I like how the
author focused on the plot rather than the violence towards the women.
I
recommend this book highly. This is a perfect starter book for those readers
wanting to get into the dark genre. This was a great read and I look forward to
reading more from this author. Grab a copy when it goes live!! You will not be
disappointed.
